dc.description.abstract | This research refers to the experience report that was based on a research project carried out by the
EcoSoluções group of IFPE/Campus Recife registered with the CNPq, substantiated by scientific initiation
(PIBIC) and extension (PIBEX) of courses, technician in Buildings and higher. Of Civil Engineering. The
objective of this work was “to report the experience with fishermen from the North coast of Pernambuco in
the viable use of oyster and shellfish shells as aggregates for civil construction”. Therefore, based on the
need to minimize the negative environmental impacts caused by mariculture activities on the northern coast
of Pernambuco, research was carried out, and the extension tried to return the knowledge concerning the
use of oyster and shellfish shell residues to the fishing community. In cementitious composites: mortars;
concrete without structural purposes; blocks for sealing and paving masonry. It was verified in the production
of these new materials, an average cost reduction, in relation to conventional materials, of more than 50%.
The practice exercised in the extension, which considered informing fishermen in the studied region of the
research results, was conducted along the path guided by informal education (GOHN, 2013), supported by
the model of eloquence adequate to the understanding of the interlocutor, as well as highlighting the
importance of if conditions were built so that professional fishermencould pass them on to each other, in the
most adequate and easy way possible. Mortars are basically for flooring (cemented flooring) and for lifting
masonry; concrete for subfloor, internal flooring, sidewalks, etc.; manually pressed blocks can be used in
sealing masonry and internal and external paving without structural purposes. Nevertheless, this research
conglomerate generated several publications of scientific articles in congress and journal, as well as the
edition of a book. Finally, it is possible to identify in this work, aspects in the exercise that underlies the
formation law of Federal Institutes (Law 11,892/2008), such as: promoting the production, development and
transfer of social technologies, notably those aimed at preservation the environment; carry out applied
research, stimulating the development of technical and technological solutions, extending their benefits to
the community. | pt_BR |
