Ideação suicida entre estudantes universitários da área da saúde: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

Objective: to identify the risk factors associated with suicidal ideation in university students in the health field. Method: this is an integrative review of the literature, developed based on the recommendation criteria of the Preferred Reporting Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), whose articles were selected through access on the Periodic Publications Portal of the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), in the following databases: Scopus, EBSCO, PubMed, LILACS, BDENF and Web of Science, the Population, Interest and Context (PICo) strategy was used, represented by: students in the health area, suicidal ideation and university respectively, regarding the search in the databases, descriptors arranged in Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) were selected associated with the uncontrolled descriptors. Results: the final sample resulted in 22 articles. There was a significant predominance among females, younger university students and those in the initial periods of the course and a strong association of factors related to high levels of stress, adverse financial conditions, mental disorders, abuse of alcohol and other drugs and lack of social support and emotional. Final considerations: this study made it possible to identify factors frequently associated with the occurrence of suicidal ideation and characteristics that increase the vulnerability of university students in the health area. The need for effective interventions at both individual and institutional levels prioritizing the mental health and well-being of students is evident. students.
