<title>Gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos orgânicos para o Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco – Campus Recife</title>
<link>https://repositorio.ifpe.edu.br/xmlui/handle/123456789/2194</link>
<description>Gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos orgânicos para o Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco – Campus Recife
Educational institutions can be compared to small urban centers, as they generate various types of waste originating from cleaning activities, food production, administrative routines, and classrooms. Therefore, it becomes essential to characterize these wastes in order to support the implementation of waste management plans. Given the diversity of refuse produced daily in schools and universities, effective solid waste management stands out as a relevant issue closely related to public administration, since public institutions should serve as examples by promoting sustainable practices.&#13;
&#13;
In the context of cafeterias or meal distribution points in educational institutions, the significant volume of organic waste requires appropriate management processes in order to avoid socio-environmental and economic impacts. In this regard, this dissertation aimed to develop a proposal for an Organic Solid Waste Management Plan for the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE) – Recife Campus, considering the waste generated from the free food distribution provided through the National School Feeding Program (PNAE).&#13;
&#13;
The methodology involved bibliographic research, analyzing 27 documents related to waste generation, characterization, management, and disposal at IFPE. Subsequently, field research was carried out to identify the main organic wastes generated by the PNAE, with particular emphasis on fruit peels. A gravimetric analysis was also conducted, with weighings performed over six consecutive days.&#13;
&#13;
The third stage consisted of training processes aimed at the outsourced team responsible for waste handling, totaling three training sessions conducted between 2023 and 2025, involving more than 50 outsourced workers overall. As a final product, the “Organic Solid Waste Management Plan of IFPE – Recife Campus” was developed, based on Federal Law No. 12,305/2010 and Municipal Law No. 19,026/2022

<description>Pastoral da ecologia integral e educação ambiental crítica: portifólio de práticas pastoraisà luz da Laudato Si
This study investigates how the Encyclical Laudato Si’ can support environmental education&#13;
practices within the Integral Ecology Ministries in Brazil. The research articulates spirituality,&#13;
socio-environmental justice, and pastoral action, drawing on references such as Saint Francis&#13;
of Assisi, Pope Francis, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), the Pan-&#13;
Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM), Caritas, the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT), and&#13;
the Laudato Si’ Movement. The study was based in a bibliographic review and the analysis of&#13;
existing experiences, aiming to systematize knowledge and propose a portfolio as a technical-&#13;
educational product. The methodology identifies sources, materials, and procedures, these&#13;
being developed, initially, by mapping and analyzing the academic influence of Laudato Si’&#13;
from 2015 to 2025. The study also involved the investigation of pastoral practices and&#13;
experiences, as well as a theoretical review of integral ecology and critical environmental&#13;
education. As the culmination of the research, the findings were systematized and a technical-&#13;
educational portfolio. It also establishes analytical criteria based on the central axes of the&#13;
study, aligned with SDGs 4, 12, 13, and 15, by promoting critical environmental education&#13;
that strengthens training for responsible consumption, climate action, and care for terrestrial&#13;
life and the Common Home. Preliminary results indicate the influence of more than five&#13;
hundred and forty (540) publications indexed in Scopus in which the encyclical appears in&#13;
titles, abstracts, and keywords. Furthermore, in the global panorama of the Integral Ecology&#13;
Ministries presented in the second section, Europe emerges as the continent with the highest&#13;
estimated number of countries in active engagement. In Brazil, the construction of Table 2&#13;
highlights the regions with the best performance in implementing the Ministries: East 3, South&#13;
1, East 1, Northeast 5, Center-West, West 2, West 1, and North 1. In contrast, the regions&#13;
Northwest, Northeast 3, Northeast 4, East 2, South 2, and South 3 did not present sufficient&#13;
information regarding the implementation of the Ministries in the consulted sources. Finally,&#13;
the attached portfolio presents a brief compilation of materials to support those interested in&#13;
implementing the Integral Ecology Ministries. The conclusion reinforces the importance of&#13;
integral ecology as an educational and spiritual pathway for the care of the Common Home,&#13;
integrating faith, science, and social action

<title>Desempenho termoenergético de edificações no IFPE Campus Recife</title>
<link>https://repositorio.ifpe.edu.br/xmlui/handle/123456789/2190</link>
<description>Desempenho termoenergético de edificações no IFPE Campus Recife
This research constitutes an investigation into sustainable buildings, with particular emphasis&#13;
on the principles of energy efficiency, a topic aligned with SDG 11 - “Sustainable Cities and&#13;
Communities” and with the context of climate change. In this regard, the main objective was&#13;
to determine the level of thermo-energy performance of the buildings at “IFPE Campus&#13;
Recife”, focusing on the “Centro de Pesquisa” and “Bloco F”, respectively the newest and the&#13;
oldest constructions within the institution. The methodological approach combined the&#13;
techniques of computational simulation, using the softwares EnergyPlusTM and SketchUp,&#13;
with the Euclid extension, for the modeling and parameterization of each building; and&#13;
infrared thermography, based on imaging performed with the Flir B335 camera. The buildings&#13;
were compared under different aspects: albedo/reflectance levels of the envelope, calculated&#13;
at 65.54% for “Centro de Pesquisa” and 36.23% for “Bloco F”; thermal distribution on the&#13;
facades, in which “Centro de Pesquisa” presented slightly lower temperatures overall; and&#13;
energy consumption for air conditioning, with an average annual rate of 88.95 KWh/m2 for&#13;
“Centro de Pesquisa” and 93.25 KWh/m2 for “Bloco F”. It was possible to conclude that the&#13;
thermo-energy performance of a building is the outcome of a combination of factors,&#13;
beginning with its architectural conception during the preliminary studies and design&#13;
development phases, including specific elements such as the orientation of the facades and the&#13;
appropriate selection of construction materials, and extending to the color of surfaces,&#13;
particularly in the building envelope. “Centro de Pesquisa” achieved superior results&#13;
compared to “Bloco F”, basically in all the aspects analyzed

<title>Saneamento sustentável para o Residencial Pitanga I</title>
<link>https://repositorio.ifpe.edu.br/xmlui/handle/123456789/2188</link>
<description>Saneamento sustentável para o Residencial Pitanga I
The Reserva da Pitanga I residential complex in Igarassu, Pernambuco, faces serious&#13;
sanitation problems resulting from the overloading of the sewage system due to improper&#13;
connections of rainwater drainage, entry of sand and solid waste, as well as constant leaks of&#13;
treated water, which result in flooded streets, foul odors, and risks to public health. This&#13;
reality highlights the need for sustainable solutions capable of offering more effective&#13;
alternatives than conventional methods. This study aimed to propose nature-based solutions&#13;
for the requalification of the residential complex's sanitation system, focusing on urban&#13;
drainage, sanitary sewage, and water loss control. The methodology involved field inspections&#13;
and documentary research, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results&#13;
indicated that Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), such as rain gardens, permeable pavements,&#13;
constructed wetlands, ecological septic tanks, and floodable squares, have the potential to&#13;
reduce surface runoff by 35% to 70% and increase infiltration capacity by up to 300%,&#13;
contributing to mitigating flooding and network overload. The comparative analysis also&#13;
demonstrated economic viability, with an estimated reduction of up to 40% in maintenance&#13;
costs when associated with community participation. It is concluded that NBS are technically&#13;
applicable to the studied context and represent a sustainable, replicable alternative aligned&#13;
with public policies on sanitation and urban planning, reinforcing the importance of&#13;
integrating green infrastructure and social management of the territory.
