A importância do descarte e coletado lixo para o turismo em Porto de Galinhas

Abstract

The tourism, as one of the most productive activities in the world, takes into consideration the number of tourists attending a given destination. This destination - the more frequented -, if not thought and worked in a sustainable way, tends to have a high level of degradation and waste generation. This work has as main objective to create an environmental education campaign on the regular disposal and collection of garbage on the beach of Porto de Galinhas - PE, one of the main destinations of the so-called Sun and Sea Tourism, in the Northeast. To this end, forms were used to collect data from the management of Ipojuca, the means of accommodation and tourists, in order to understand the profile of guests and tourists in Porto de Galinhas; current perception of waste disposal at the site and good practices to positively impact the environment. The results showed that the political management of Ipojuca intends to work with tourism in a sustainable way, even in slow steps. As for the means of accommodation, most already have a habit of sustainable practices. Regarding tourists, it was noticed that most believe that the destination does not have enough trash bins, especially for selective collection, to meet the demand and that the means of accommodation and commerce do not seem to be so concerned with sustainability. In this way, it was possible to devise an environmental awareness campaign involving all these actors and which will bring benefits to tourism in Porto de Galinhas, in addition to generating jobs and income for the local population and preventing the destination from entering its declining phase.
