Resumo

The objective of this study was, through pedagogical mediations, to propose a didactic sequence with five pedagogical interventions that address the concepts of Electrochemistry, the study of the Daniell cell and the correct disposal of cells and batteries in the environment. Students in the 1st year of high school from a state school located in the city of Carpina, Pernambuco, participated in this work. The following phases were carried out: initially, the students' prior knowledge was investigated through questions and they were asked to carry out an extra-class interview with family members and the community through the application of a questionnaire. Subsequently, an expository and dialogue class was prepared on the use, composition and consequences of improper disposal of batteries. Subsequently, they carried out experiments to verify whether the devices (calculator and LEDs) would be activated by electronically changing the lemon battery. Finally, it was noted that the proposed theme can be used as an effective teaching methodology to promote scientific literacy, managing to establish a link between everyday life and the school context.
